For more than 24 (twenty-four) years Hilmae Bodden worked in the legal, financial, and government sectors prior to being called to the Cayman Islands Bar.
Hilmae started her legal career at the magic circle law firm Walkers. She worked with them for six (6) years before moving on to work with other top-tier law firms and financial service providers.
Hilmae was appointed as the first Policy Analyst to the Cabinet Office of the Cayman Islands Government. In this role she was responsible for providing independent policy advice and conducting research for the Cabinet and Premier. Her advice focused on how the government’s vision and strategic objectives could be translated into effective long-term policy. She worked with the government for seven (7) years.
During Hilmae’s tenure with the government, she gained a wealth of knowledge and experience while on secondment with the Constitutional Review Secretariat, and as Secretary to the Immigration Appeals Tribunal.
Hilmae made significant contributions to and helped to co-author the National Disability Policy of the Cayman Islands.
In addition to being a Director of several local companies, Hilmae also owned and managed a successful watersports company for several years.
Hilmae is an activist and advocate for Women and Children Rights, and regularly does pro-bono work for abused women. She serves as a Notary Public in and for the Cayman Islands.
